Productive Weekend

I was a busy bee this weekend: it was hot out so I closed up the house, cranked the A/C and did some major cleaning up of my 2 story abode. A marathon of the X-Files threatened to stop me in my tracks but only succeeded in slowing me down a bit. (Man, I loved that show.) Still managed to get in 8 hours of cleaning, scrubbing, reorganizing and just general house work. Unfortunately that was only the second floor - and I'm still not done.

An unusual occurrence, well, occurred on Sunday - my SO was home from work. Other than for prearranged Special Occations, I cannot remember the last time this has happened. (Side note: the Mr has a new work schedule so he sometimes has time off on Sundays now though he rarely takes it and/or ends up working anyway.) I had thought we'd get to spend some quality time together, maybe clean up the rest of the house first thing and then head off for some fun hanging out time, just us. Um, no. Apparently the U.S. Open was what was going on. The good news - I got all the downstairs cleaned. The bad news - I did it on my own.

I suppose, to be fair, I never really asked him to help; though after about 4 hours of him watching TV and me doing chores, he did notice the sweat dripping, the muttered cursing and the house rearranging itself into order and ventured a tentative "Can I help?" At this point, I sent him upstairs to watch his show while putting away his clean clothes. Plus, the Mr works hard, really hard, making sure all of Southern CA is mobile so a complete Day Off is rare for him and he really, really does deserve to just veg out sometimes. We did get to spend some quality time with the family that evening, too, which was pretty much the highlight of my weekend. Got to chat with the family newly weds as well as my brother and his family all while sitting outside in the sunsine at a restaurant eating pretty decent Mexican food.

Overall, it was a productive weekend.
